Horse logging
Horses can be a cost-effective low impact solution for extracting a wide range of timber produce. Small size and high manoeuvrability enables them to work in the tightest spaces with minimum damage to flora and fauna.
I have been horse logging since 2005 and I have won the BHL (British Horse Loggers) annual competition for single-horse logging in 2008 and again in 2009, also second place for two-horse logging in the same years.
Certificates and insurance
I hold a CS30 CS31 chainsaw certificate. I also have both public liability insurance and employers' liability insurance covering: shows and demonstration; training courses; general felling and extracting; and horse work.
Training
All of my horses are trained by myself using humane, horse friendly methods. I also offer training for people to use horses both on and off road.
Need your own horse for logging? I occasionally offer trained horses
for sale.
